Statement on judicial review application by ABSA and SARB

The Public Protector acknowledges receipt of the judicial review application brought by the South African Reserve Bank. The Public Protector also noted ABSA’s intention to join SARB’s application as a co-applicant.

The Public Protector perused the aforesaid application and will meet the legal team and decide on whether to oppose or not. The basis or grounds of the Public Protector’s opposition of the judicial review application, if the Public Protector decide to oppose, will be contained in the answering affidavit, which will be filed in Court in due course.
