Public Protector notes the German Africa Prize Award 2016

Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela has noted the anticipated German Africa Prize Award 2016 from the German Africa Foundation with gratitude.

“As the Public Protector team, we do not seek any recognition or awards but we are encouraged when other people appreciate what we are doing. We do our work in pursuit of our constitutional duty to support and strengthen constitutional democracy and all of it guided by our desire to ensure that our country continues to pursue the rule of law”, said Adv Madonsela.

The award was established to promote and facilitate dialogue between the business, economic and political sector of both countries and is supported by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The award is bestowed on Africans that demonstrate exceptional commitment towards promoting peace, rule of law, democracy, human rights and culture on the African continent.

The Public Protector would like to thank the German government for its ongoing support of good governance efforts in South Africa as well as ongoing support to the Public Protector and the African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC).

The Public Protector will receive the award in October in Berlin, Germany.
