Public Protector not sitting on reports

There have been media reports recently suggesting that the Public Protector is sitting on certain investigation reports and not releasing them to the public.

Please note that the Public Protector is compelled by Section 8 of the Public Protector Act, to publish her reports upon finalisation of investigations.

Reports emanating from all finalised investigation are published on the Public Protector’s website:

http://www.pprotect.org/library/investigation_report/investigation_report.asp

The Public Protector is currently investigating all jurisdictional complaints that have been reported to her office and, upon finalisation of the investigations, reports will be released to the public as has been the case with other investigations.

The request for an investigation into the landing of an aircraft at the Waterkloof Air Force Base was declined by the former Public Protector, Advocate Thuli Madonsela in 2013.

In conclusion, there has been allegations that Public Protector, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane visited the Gupta family. The Public Protector would like to put on record the fact that she never visited nor met any member of the Gupta family – the reports are fake news.
