Public Protector to lead Human Rights commemorations in the Eastern Cape
Public Protector Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane will on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 deliver a keynote address during the commemoration of Human Rights month at the Mngqesha Great Place in Bisho, Eastern Cape.
The commemoration is organized by sister independent constitutional institution also established in terms Chapter 9 of the Constitution, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
It will be supported by representatives from other such institutions, including the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) under the banner of the Forum for Institutions Supporting Democracy (FISD). Chapter 10 institution, the Public Service Commission, will also take part in the commemoration.
Held under the theme: “The Year of Indigenous Languages: Promoting and Respecting a Human Rights Culture”, the event will target traditional leaders and royalty in the area, and will further be addressed by AmaRharhabe Regent Queen, Noloyiso Sandile.
