Progress Report on an investigation into allegations of improper conduct and maladminstration relating to security installations and upgrades at the private residences of President Jacob Zuma in Nkandla
The Public Protector, Adv Thuli Madonsela is still awaiting information to complete her investigation into allegations of improper conduct regarding security upgrades at the private residence of President Jacob Zuma.
The relevant party has been requested to provide the outstanding information by 30 September 2013. Upon receipt of the information, the Public Protector will finalise the provisional report which will only be shared with affected parties. The purpose of releasing a provisional report is to give affected parties an opportunity to respond to provisional findings.
The media’s attention is drawn to section (7) 2 of the Public Protector Act which prohibits the disclosure and publication of the contents of the provisional report.
The Public Protector will study the responses and integrate them to the extent possible in the final report. The responses will not be discussed or commented on as this undermines the integrity of the investigation as well as the Public Protector’s effectiveness. The Public Protector will only comment on the responses in the final report.
The report will be made public after it has been finalised on a date to be determined by the Public Protector.
