How long it will take?
- We will register your complaint within 2 working days of receipt and acknowledge it in writing within 3 working days.
- We will assess your complaint for jurisdiction and merit within 7 working days of registration.
- We will advise you if the public protector has no jurisdiction over your complaint and refer your matter to another competent institution within 10 working days of assessment.
- We will provide you with the name of an investigator within 5 working days of the file being allocated to one, where we accept jurisdiction.
- We will provide you with feedback every 6 weeks after an investigation has commenced.
- We will strive to finalise investigations as soon as possible (cases allocated to the administrative justice and service delivery branch will be finalised within 6 to 12 months while those allocated to the good governance and integrity branch may take up to 24 months).
- We will inform you of the outcome within 15 working days of finalisation of your complaint.
- We will grant you the opportunity to request the public protector to reconsider her decision.
- We will always be courteous, return calls within one working day after receiving a message and adhere to the code of conduct and values of the Public Protector South Africa.
- We will serve the elderly and people with disabilities first when they visit our offices.
- We will avail our services during lunch times.
- We will assist people with challenges in reading and writing.
- We will comply with provisions of the Executive Members Ethics Act and endeavor to conclude such investigation within 30 days.
