Condolence message regarding the late Mrs Albertina Sisulu

The Public Protector South Africa has noted with deep sadness the passing of Mrs Albertina Sisulu, fondly known as MaSisulu. Our country and democracy are indeed poorer without her. She selflessly gave up her life to contribute to making South Africa a united, non-racial and non-sexist country.

At the Public Protector South Africa, we are proud to have benefitted from her selfless fight for the dignity of all who live in this country. She has touched the lives of many people and may she forever be remembered by South Africans along with the countless heroes and heroines who sacrificed for us to enjoy the rights and privileges we enjoy today.

We will not forget the ideals MaSisulu stood for and what she taught the world about humanity. MaSisulu has been described by many as a generous free spirited being and humility personified. May we forever be reminded that the democracy we all enjoy came about because of the contribution of people like her.

We thank God for giving us her life and that of her family. We will forever be grateful for the amazing legacy she has left us. To the Sisulu family we say our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

May her memories give you strength and her soul rest in ever lasting peace.
