Black First Land First protest at Public Protector Offices

Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela has noted the impromptu protest by members of the Black First Land First organisation at her offices in Pretoria on Tuesday, 06 October 2015. She has further noted their interest in the investigation into government’s alleged improper handling of the CIEX report, which interest was expressed in a letter dated 07 September 2015.

The Black First Land First members are not the complainants in the matter. The complainant is Adv. Paul Hoffman of Institute for Accountability in Southern Africa. The Public Protector is in touch with Adv. Hoffman regarding the matter and we have kept him informed with regard to the developments in the investigation.

The Public Protector has since responded to the letter from Black First Land First in a correspondence dated 30 September 2015 but dispatched on 06 October 2015, indicating that there is no report on the matter at this stage and that she will inform Black First Land First once the matter has been concluded.
