Acting Public Protector engages stakeholders in the Eastern Cape

Acting Public Protector Adv. Kholeka Gcaleka is as of Wednesday, 01 March 2023, in the Eastern Cape interacting with various stakeholders in the province on a multitude of issues related to the constitutional mandate of the office of the Public Protector South Africa.

 

Amongst the issues set to take center stage during the visit, are complaints lodged with the office pertaining to lack of service delivery in the province. Several investigations emanating from complaints by communities in the province, are currently underway, with some at an advanced stage.

 

Amongst the stakeholders, the Acting Public Protector is scheduled to meet, is the Speaker of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, Members of the Executive Council (MEC), Mayors of various municipalities in the province, the House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders as well as the Eastern Cape branch of the South African Council of Churches (SACC).

 

The meetings are part of the institution’s drive to engage and strengthen relations with the stakeholders aimed at amongst others, increasing cooperation between the PPSA and state institutions during the course of investigations. The last date of the sessions will be on Friday, 03 March 2023.
