Public Protector to Brief the Media on Finalised Investigations

The Public Protector, Adv Mabedle Lawrence Mushwana will hold a media briefing on 18 February 2008, to report on findings of investigated complaints that are of interest to the public.

Adv Mushwana will amongst share information on the following:

• Report on an investigation into an allegation of improper conduct by the former chairperson of the Board of Directors of Eskom Holdings Limited, Mr V Moosa, relating to the awarding of a contract.
• Report on an investigation into an allegation that the South African Police Service failed to pay a reward to an informer after undertaking to do so
• Report on an investigation into an allegations of abuse of power, breach of trust and favouritism made against the member of the Executive Council responsible for Education of the Limpopo Provincial Government, and of the violation of supply chain management by officials of the Limpopo Department of Education.
• Report on an investigation into an allegation of misappropriation of Public Funds by the Gauteng Provincial Department of Social Development.
• Report on an own initiative investigation into allegations that the South African Social Security Agency suspended the Social Security grant of Ms NS Mphephu without good cause.
• Report on an investigation into allegations of the misappropriation of public funds by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Gigaba.
• Report on a preliminary investigation relating to Electricity Load Shedding Implemented by Eskom.
