Acting Public Protector Adv Kholeka Gcaleka assures stakeholders that the office continues to serve with integrity
The Public Protector South Africa (PPSA) has noted the recent developments concerning the Parliamentary Section 194 process in terms of which the President suspended the Public Protector on Thursday.
Following this development, the PPSA wishes to allay any uncertainty regarding interruption of services among stakeholders, including those who may have lodged complaints with the institution and those against whom investigations are pending.
“We wish to reassure stakeholders that we continue to do our work with utmost integrity. This includes conducting our investigations without fear, favour or prejudice and giving effect to the principle of equality before the law,” said Adv. Kholeka Gcaleka, who has been appointed Acting Public Protector.
Meanwhile, Adv. Gcaleka addressed the institution’s Executive Committee and staff earlier today, calling on them to continue putting the interests of the public they serve first and serving as best they can. She urged them to ensure that, in carrying out their duties, they uphold the rule of law.
